My First Album

I have been wondering what the first album was that I really fell in love with. The easy anser would be Nirvana's Nevermind, or Pearl Jam's Ten, but I am pretty sure that I did not dig these records until my later teens, well after Kurt Cobain put a shotgun in his mouth. So what was my first full-on album that I loved. My only guess after soul searching was 1985's MIKE + THE MECHANICS. Although I was only five when this record dropped, it has to be the first one that I thought was cool( next to anything by Disney).

Of course music was always playing when I was growing up, but my mind still comes back to this obscure solo album by the tall guy in Genesis. Anyways I am not a huge fan of Genesis, mostly because the post-Buster, cameo in Hook Phil Collins creeps me out. His soundtrack to the movie Tarzan must be what the government uses on Terrorist in Cuba. I have to say, my hatred of Phil Collins even trickles to other people, including Diana Ross. This is because sometime in the early nineties, creepy Phil recorded a cover of the Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love". The greatest taint on a career is possible having Phil Collins record one of your songs.

Like the spread of some disease, Phil Collins is Herpes Simplex 2.

Mike + The Mechanics on the other hand the first album I loved and hope that if you are ever in a record store, or illegally downloading music, you check it out.
